I have always been a big fan of dark mode for any application as I spend more hours than I care to admit at my computer, so eye strain is always a concern.
Dark mode lets us protect our eyeballs from the harsh glare of a white screen, and it may just conserve a little more battery life on our mobile devices.
Microsoft Teams has such a mode.
Enabling dark mode
To enable dark mode, log onto Microsoft Teams and select your profile picture in the top right of the window. From the context menu click Settings.

From the General tab select Dark under Themes.

Teams will now switch to a dark theme.

To switch back, repeat these steps but select Default under the General tab.

I have the dark mode on the windows app version of Teams,
but it doesn’t seem to apply to the web version, when I log in.
Any idea’s how to make this happen ?
Hi,
I did this now all I have for teams is a black screen. Any thoughts how to reverse without being able to see anything?
It happened to me too. “Close Window” didn’t help. But you can also “Quit” from the right-click menu that the taskbar item provides. It worked OK after restarting the application.
It happened to me again and it was not so easily fixed. I figured out where the settings are saved. Open a cmd shell and enter this command:
notepad %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\desktop-config.json
It’ll open that file in notepad, and near the end of the configuration you’ll find:
“theme”:”dark”
Change that to:
“theme”:”default”
Maybe try rebooting after that. Mine is still opening up in dark mode even after quitting and restarting the app. Current settings might be hanging around in memory in some hidden process. I can’t find anywhere else they might be stored.
If you can’t reboot now, you can use the app in the browser until you can – https:// teams.microsoft.com
Thx bro
